Do or Do Not Listen to Yoda

When faced with a new challenge, how often do you say, “I’ll try.”

According to my dear friend John S., you might as well say, “I’ll probably fail!”

Wanna know why?

Let me share a little story:

I’m having lunch with John S.  I share with him a new marketing idea that I think will allow me to reach more people with help to find their perfect work.

He’s very encouraging.  Then I say that I’m not sure it will work, but I’m going to give it a try.

He stares at me incredulously.

“What do you mean, you’ll try?”

I don’t really understand his question, so I stammer a bit and then say, “Well, I’m not sure if it will work, so I’ll try for a while and if it doesn’t pan out, I’ll stop and try something else.”

Again, the incredulous stare.

He finally says, “If you think it might not work, then don’t do it.  If you think it will most likely work, you need to do it until you succeed.”

Ah, the wisdom of Yoda:  ”Do or do not…there is no try.”

Thanks John!  (and Yoda!)

How about you?  What do you know you need to keep doing until you succeed?
