Can you train yourself to get good ideas?

Every day, my friend Kurt requires himself to come up with a good idea for a new product or service.

He’s not self-employed, and his good idea doesn’t even have to relate to his current job.

He’s actually just training himself to have good ideas all the time.

It’s kinda like going to the gym to build up his idea muscle.

He plans to start with having good ideas and then move on to having great ideas.

He reports that this exercise is leading him to greater productivity and increased creativity.

Oh – and more fun!

Sounds like a great idea to me…

What do you think?

  1. I think that’s a great idea. Does Kurt post his ideas online? Or perhaps more interesting would be his ideas combined with his experiences on coming up with an idea every day and what makes a great idea.

    Thanks for sharing.
    John.

  2. Yes! A person can train themselves to get good ideas! The trick is to start doing what Kurt does, and not setting out with the mindset that you will only accept good ideas. Just get the ball rolling with ideas…no censoring. That kills any idea. You’ll know when you hit on a good idea. You will. Besides it is fun and can connect a person (I know it does for me) to feeling alive!
    Great post!

  3. Thanks John and Dee Dee!
    Great ideas and advice…
