5 Great Reasons to Be Fired

You’re Fired!

In most cultures, this is a bone-chilling phrase…
and I know that there are times when this is the absolute last thing you want to hear…
…believe me, I know!

But wait! Could there be more than a few times when it’s the best news possible?

Here’s a list of 5 great reasons to hear those two little words…

1. You’ve been bored for quite a while and your work has been suffering. You know you can do better…somewhere else!

2. Your values have been being compromised for far too long. You start to feel like you need a shower the minute you walk through the front door of your workplace. There are things going on that you just can’t keep quiet about anymore. And so you’re not.

3. You’re uninspired. Everything is “same old, same old” and nothing new is happening. No one is innovating, no one is taking risks and the client base is beginning to catch on. The writing is on the wall – and no one wants to read it.

4. You’ve been hiding out for a good long while. You have a lot of talent, but you’ve gotten used to being ignored. You know you have more to contribute — if only you were appreciated.

5. You no longer have a personal life. The professional demands have been draining all your free time and energy.

I’ve worked with a lot of clients who, once they get some distance from it, view being fired as one of the best things that ever happened to them. It’s the cosmic kick-in-the-seat-of-the-pants that helps you get up, get out and move onward toward greater things.

Question is, should you wait to be fired, or fire yourself?
